Henson Creek

This place is in the middle of the suburbs along a busy road. Paleocene mollusks abound including a beautiful, extinct giant clam. Everything is packed in dark clay at the stream bed, so be sure to bring dental and ice picks. Get big chunks of and clean them up at home.

Directions: Get on the Capital Beltway (495/95) and take the St. Barnabas Rd exit south. Turn right on Brinkley Rd. Turn Left at the intersection of Fischer and Brinkley and turn right into the community. Park here and carefully cross very busy Brinkley Road and find the stream.
